Chicago Sky<\/a> guard DiJonai Carrington flew under the radar on Sunday as the hullabaloo between Enes Kanter Freedom and Natasha Cloud dominated the headlines following the Sky\u2019s loss to the Indiana Fever.<\/p>\n

Carrington seemed to be extra excited<\/a> about playing the Fever again after getting into a skirmish with Sophie Cunningham in their previous game. Carrington\u2019s hack on Cunningham led to a Flagrant 2 and a subsequent ejection back on Aug. 8. She then posted “8\/23” on her X account and claimed “white privilege” on a separate post on Threads.<\/p>\n

So, when Aug. 23 came around, everyone was expecting some kind of fireworks. Instead, Carrington and the Sky\u2019s performance against the Fever was a dud.<\/p>\n

Carrington had seven points on 3-of-11 from the field with an assist and a block in 18 minutes. She was minus-5 off the bench. In the four minutes she played in the previous Fever-Sky matchup, Carrington had eight points, a rebound and was plus-6 on the court.<\/p>\n

WNBA watchers took note of Carrington\u2019s “8\/23” post and pointed out it came to fruition in a different way.<\/p>\n

Caitlin Clark made eight 3-pointers<\/a> and the Sky lost by 23 points, 113-90.<\/p>\n

Clark was on fire, making 13 of her 24 attempts. She was 8-of-12 from beyond the arc and finished with 37 points. Kelsey Mitchell added 30 points as she was 10-of-19 from the field and 6-of-9 from deep.<\/p>\n

Indiana has clinched a spot in the WNBA playoffs<\/a> with a 25-14 record. The Fever sit in fifth place \u2013 a half-game behind the Atlanta Dream, two games behind the Golden State Valkyries for second place and six games behind the Minnesota Lynx for first place.<\/p>\n

Chicago has been eliminated from playoff contention with a record of 15-23. The Portland Fire and Dallas Wings are battling it out for the eighth and final spot.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
