The facility has halted operations as the fire continues. <\/p>\n<p>Both targeted facilities are said to be major fuel producers for the Russian military.<\/p>\n<p><!--kg-card-begin: html--><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/embed?pb=!1m18!1m12!1m3!1d176204.76389480126!2d48.03178700000001!3d46.365430999999994!2m3!1f0!2f0!3f0!3m2!1i1024!2i768!4f13.1!3m3!1m2!1s0x41a90584a786c9ed%3A0x5a2144fabe5dcac2!2sAstrakhan%2C%20Astrakhan%20Oblast%2C%20Russia!5e0!3m2!1sen!2sua!4v1738583526545!5m2!1sen!2sua\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" style=\"border:0;\" allowfullscreen loading=\"lazy\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\"><\/iframe><!--kg-card-end: html--><\/p>\n<p>The statement comes after Russian authorities reported fires and drone attacks against the Volgograd and Astrakhan oblasts overnight. Ukraine&#8217;s General Staff later <a href=\"https:\/\/t.me\/GeneralStaffZSU\/20525\">confirmed<\/a> that Ukrainian forces were behind the attacks.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Volgograd oil refinery processes almost 6% of all oil in Russia,&#8221; the source said.<\/p>\n<p>The Kyiv Independent could not verify these claims. <\/p>\n<p>This is the fifth attack on Russian oil refineries and other facilities in 2025, the source said. Ukrainian drones previously <a href=\"https:\/\/kyivindependent.com\/ukrainian-drones-strike-russian-oil-refinery-in-volgograd-oblast-targeting-lukoil-facility\/\">hit the Lukoil-owned oil refinery<\/a> in Volgograd on Jan. 31.<\/p>\n<p>Recent drone strikes also attacked a refinery in <a href=\"https:\/\/kyivindependent.com\/russias-ryazan-oil-refinery-suspends-operations-after-drone-strike-reuters-reports\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ryazan<\/a>, a distillery in <a href=\"https:\/\/kyivindependent.com\/drone-hits-distillery-in-russias-tambov-oblast-local-media-reports\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tambov Oblast<\/a>, and a <a href=\"https:\/\/kyivindependent.com\/bryansk-chemical-plant-hit-in-aerial-attack-russian-media-says\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">chemical plant<\/a> in Bryansk.
