Local authorities reported no fatalities, but two people were reportedly injured and received medical attention. <\/p>\n<p>The Kyiv Independent could not verify the claims.<\/p>\n<p>Photos from the scene show plumes of smoke, and military equipment was deployed in the city, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/t.me\/astrapress\/79051\">Astra<\/a>.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"kg-card kg-embed-card\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Explosions were reported in Russia&#8217;s Shuya, Ivanovo region, with smoke visible in the city, according to local residents. It lies about 700 kilometers (435 miles) northeast of the Ukrainian border.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, Ukraine&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/kyivindependent.com\/ukrainian-forces-target-russian-missile-brigade-behind-deadly-sumy-attack\/\">General Staff<\/a> confirmed on April 15 that its forces had also targeted and struck the base of the 448th Missile Brigade in <a href=\"https:\/\/kyivindependent.com\/tag\/kursk-oblast\/\">Kursk Oblast<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>The operation involved Ukraine&#8217;s Unmanned Systems Forces, the Special Operations Forces, and the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and was launched as retaliation for the Sumy attack.<\/p>\n<p>Ukrainian officials have asserted that <a href=\"https:\/\/kyivindependent.com\/ukraines-intelligence-reveals-russian-brigades-responsible-for-sumy-attack\/\">cluster munitions<\/a> were used in the Sumy attack, a serious violation of international humanitarian law when used in civilian areas.
